Liberal Democrats Say No To Danbury Development

Focus excerpt from Danbury

There is a shortage of affordable housing in Chelmsford and the surrounding area. However, Liberal Democrats believe there are more suitable sites elsewhere for such a development, utilising existing infrastructure and transport hubs.

Therefore, we support Hands off Danbury. There are significant planning problems and errors in the application submission which have been pursued by Gladman Development Limited (Gladman) in compiling and submitting their proposals. The proposals themselves are considered to wholly conflict with Chelmsford City Council's existing and emerging planning policies and thus should be robustly refused. The proposals fail entirely to meet the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), including sustainability.

Equally unsatisfactory is the proposal from Richborough Estates. Again the plan does nothing to address the 3 key issues for Danbury residents; traffic, overloaded medical facilities and inadequate number of school places. Therefore it should be rejected.

We the undersigned oppose the proposed development on land off Maldon Road Danbury by Gladman Developments Limited and Richborough Estates.
