Full Structural Survey for the Army & Navy Flyover

Crumbling concrete at the base of one of the main support pillars at Chelmsford's Army & Navy flyoverThis is the base of one of the main pillars supporting the Army & Navy flyover in Chelmsford. This photo was taken on Saturday 1st September 2018, AFTER three weeks of maintenance works had been carried out in July and August. It shows crumbling concrete below the pillar. Other photos taken at the same time show large cracks in other parts of the structure.

The Liberal Democrats and local residents are concerned that there are still issues with the flyover that have not been resolved, despite the recent maintenance works.

According to information obtained through Freedom of Information requests, we do not believe there has been a full structural survey of the flyover in recent years. We think one should be carried out as soon as possible.

The Army & Navy roundabout and flyover is a key part of Chelmsford's infrastructure and is used by thousands of people every day. Concerns about its integrity and its safety must be taken seriously.

We the undersigned call on Essex County Council to arrange for a full independent structural survey as a matter of urgency.

Thank you for your interest but we are no longer running this campaign.
