Central Chelmsford (white area on the map) has no parish councils, and so Chelmsford City Council carries out the parish-type services for the central urban area (playgrounds, open spaces, allotments). The City Council charges an additional amount of Council Tax just to people in that area to pay for them - £43.02 for 2020/21 and £33.57 for 2021/22.
Chelmsford City Council also delivers some services only in specific parishes and so charges for them only in those areas - £10.26 in Writtle and £34.56 in Springfield.
