The Lib Dem group proposed an amendment to dedicate to care services ALL of the additional £6.25 billion nationally coming to local councils from Business Rates. The Conservatives voted this down.

Lib Dem Leader of the Opposition Mike Mackrory said, "The adults and children care systems are in crisis. The Liberal Democrats have called nationally for an urgent £6 billion for care services by 1p on income tax but it could have come from this business rate surplus."

The Conservatives also rejected a Lib Dem call to agree a date by when infrastructure plans should be fixed, and blocked a move to low-energy LEDs for all streetlights, even though this could save £ millions a year and cut carbon.
