NHSThe NHS in Mid Essex (the "Clinical Commissioning Group-CCG") has decided to close the popular walk-in clinic next to Sainsbury in north east Chelmsford, despite lobbying by local Lib Dem Councillors Ian Fuller and Mike Mackrory and many others.

Cllr Fuller spoke out against the plans at the CCG meeting and again at the recent Chelmsford City Council meeting.

The CCG are proposing an "urgent care centre" at Broomfield Hospital with a pilot service starting in 2015. Said Cllr Mackrory, "We all know the problems with parking at Broomfield. The walk-in centre in Springfield is so convenient to park outside and go in - it's a great service."

The CCG's official statement is here.
