cyclistsChignal Road area lockdown on Monday 7th July

The Tour de France will whizz through our area on Monday 7 July. Much of north Chelmsford will be closed to traffic all day and some local schools will be closed.

The cyclists will be here at lunchtime - Great Waltham, the Chignals, Chignal Road and Roxwell Road on to Willingale - but some roads will close all day.

People from across Essex will be heading to our area, which will cause more congestion as they try to park. Taking the day off work might be a good idea, if possible.

People living in Avon Road/Chignal Road area will not be able to leave their houses by car between 9am and 4pm. Essex County Council will be writing to all homes in our area shortly (you may have had the letter already) to explain the details.

More information on the Essex County Council website.

Community Fun Day on Saturday 5 July in Melbourne Park

As part of the celebrations of the Tour de France coming to Chelmsford, Chelmsford City Council is organising a community day. It will not be quite as large as the ones we had a couple of years back, but all local organisations are encouraged to take part. Your Councillors are involved as are other community groups like Chelmsford Round Table.

St Andrews Church are playing their part in its organisation, as part of their contribution to the Diocese of Chelmsford' 100th Anniversary. They are organising community get togethers on Sunday 6 July too.
