First elected to Chelmsford Borough Council in 1987 and has represented Goat Hall ever since. During this time served on Highways, Planning, Environment, Licensing & Regulatory Committee, Development Review Board, and Community Review Board. Currently a member of the Development Policy Board and Group Secretary. Mayor of Chelmsford in 1996/97 and Deputy Mayor 2003/04

First elected to the Borough Council in April 1999. Served on the Leisure Committee and the Licensing sub-committee to May 2002. Was re-elected May 2003, and is currently a member of the Community Review Committee.

Ian Gale

County Councillor Ian Gale

Ian Gale was elected to represent the Goat Hall area as part of the Chelmsford West County Division on 5 May 2005. Ian has been an Essex County Councillor since 1997. He was also elected to Chelmsford Borough Council in 2003.

As a county councillor Ian has had a special interest in transport and waste management. For the Lib Dems he has led the fight against building incinerators. When he was chair of the county Waste Management sub committee, the decision was taken to switch to a policy of high recycling.

He has lived at his present address in the middle of the new Chelmsford West Division since 1986. He is married with three adult children. He is a governor of Westlands School having been Chair of governors 1998-2001 and is now chair of the school Finance Committee.
