Fairtrade Fortnight kicks off

12.26.15am GMT Mon 26th Feb 2007

Fairtrade Fortnight runs from 26 February - 11 March. The theme is CHANGE TODAY - CHOOSE FAIRTRADE and a range of events are running. Posters and other materials are available from the Fairtrade Foundation. One particular (local) event is the "Fairtrade Cook for Change" Competition. (Info following from Chelmsford Fairtrade Campaign.)

"Cook for Change" has been developed by Rachel Hewings and will be hosted by Christ Church, New London Road at its Gala Evening on 21 April where the entries will be judged. Why not try to get your organisation or a few friends to enter? All you have to do is to get your culinary imagination going and design a recipe that either features a Fairtrade product as the main ingredient or flavouring, or uses as many Fairtrade products as possible. You have the chance to win a hamper of Fairtrade Goodies.

The recipe should serve four, and have a maximum of 10 ingredients in total. The method should be under 200 words long. The categories are:

1. Quick and Easy Suppers; 2. Puddings; 3. Cakes, biscuits and bars; 4. Soups, starters and light lunches.

Terms and Conditions for all entrants and other information are on the Chelmsford Fairtrade website http://www.chelmsfordfairtrade.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ (bullet six on the right hand side). Further details from rmhewings@aol.com or tel. 01245 354226.
