Robinson wins one election; now for the next one!

9.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 8th Apr 2005

West Chelmsford Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Stephen Robinson has won the mock election held at Chelmsford County High School. This represents a huge shift since the last general election, when the Conservatives won the election at CCHS.

There was a turnout of 65.63% across the whole school. 258 votes were cast for the Liberal Democrats, 229 for the Conservatives and 105 for Labour.

Said Stephen Robinson, "I am delighted with this support and feel it bodes well for the coming General Election. No doubt the strong Liberal Democrat support for education, including abolishing tuition fees, helped win the students over. More and more people - of all ages - are switching to the Liberal Democrats."

Stephen Robinson spoke to sixth form students alongside other party representatives in January.
