Lib Dems close gap in Central Chelmsford by-election

In the Central Chelmsford by-election of 9th June, the Liberal Democrats improved their share of the vote compared to 5th May 2011 but this was a fall compared to 2009. Consequently, the Lib Dems lost the seat won by Margaret Hutchon in 2009.

The result on 9th June was:

Con - 1496 43.6% (-0.2% compared to 5/5/11)

Graham Pooley LDem - 1323 38.6% (+2.2 % compared to 5/5/11)

Labour - 610 17.8% (-2% compared to 5/5/11)
