Chelmsford Liberal Democrats are one of the key local organisations backing a local Climate Change summit, coming up on 4th December. In contrast, the Labour Government and Conservative Essex County Council have both failed to back the 10:10 climate change campaign. [More about the 10:10 campaign at http://is.gd/4uDqR ]
The 4 December meeting (at 7.30pm) has a range of key speakers on the subject of what we can do in Chelmsford and is a prelude to the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen the following week.
Speakers: Helen Franzen [Climate Change Contractor, United Nations Association of the UK]; Lucy Aitken Read [Oxfam Community and Activism Campaigner]; Dr. Steve Willoughby [Co-ordinator of Walden in Transition]. Chaired by: Andrew Coburn (Chelmsford TUC). Sponsored by Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society.
Commented Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Stephen Robinson, "I am fully behind this event and hope that the key players locally will come together to discuss action, not just words. The Labour Government and Conservative Essex County Council have both failed to back the 10:10 campaign to reduce carbon emissions."
