How can the European Union (EU) help resolve the economic crisis; and what does the future hold for the EU if the Lisbon Treaty is not approved? These issues will be addressed at a public meeting on Saturday 8th November at 4.00pm at the Millennium Centre, Baddow Road, Great Baddow, Chelmsford. It will be addressed by Bill Rammell MP and Stephen Robinson.
Bill Rammell (in his capacity as former vice chair of the European Movement) will be leading the discussion. The meeting is organised by the Essex branch of the European Movement, a group that campaigns for Britain taking a strong role in the European Union.
Reflecting the cross-party nature of the organisation, Chelmsford Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Stephen Robinson and a local Conservative will also be taking part in the discussions.
Said Branch Chair David Cronyn, "I hope that anyone interested in finding out more about the EU will come along to our meeting. With the European elections coming up next year, this is a good time to be holding such a meeting."
Rt Hon Charles Kennedy MP, president of the European Movement, added
"The European Union is more important to Britain than ever, which means that the European Movement is too. The case for Europe needs to be put loud and clear. Join me in the European Movement to put the pro-European case."
Light refreshments will be served after the meeting.
